In January of 2021, I was on a trip when I experienced weird symptoms. At first, I was tired, but then I noticed that my eyes and abdomen were yellow. I called my doctor, who advised me to head straight to White Plains Hospital. I was admitted and the doctors ran tests that indicated a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. I met with Dr. Dan Costin, who explained his plan for treatment. After surgery, I underwent 12 rounds of chemo in six months. On July 28^th, 2021, I was declared cancer free and was released from chemotherapy. The entire staff were a wonderful, constructive match for my circumstances and needs. I got first-rate, world-class care.”

When I was 25 weeks pregnant, I felt a lump in my left breast. My obstetrician, Dr. Jacqueline Monaco-Bavaro, scheduled an ultrasound whose results were abnormal, and a biopsy revealed that the lump was malignant. Dr. Yael Zack recommended course of treatment of mastectomy and chemotherapy. I was nervous about undergoing surgery and chemotherapy because of the risk to my unborn baby, but Dr. Zack assured me that it was safe. I underwent a mastectomy and later chemotherapy to treat the remaining cells. My son, Henry, was delivered at 37 weeks and was healthy. In April 2022, I had a hysterectomy because of the increased risk of uterine cancer from future medications. My latest scans showed no evidence of cancer thanks to my physicians at the Center for Cancer Care. All the doctors were just so amazing.

When I became pregnant with my second child in the fall of 2018, my husband and I were thrilled to expand our family. However, while on vacation I felt a lump in my right breast that proved to be cancer. Both Dr. Preya Ananthakrishnan and Dr. Karen Green formulated a plan that would allow me to receive chemotherapy and keep my baby. Ultimately I was induced early and gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Ethan. Putting chemo in my body while creating a child was really scary, but I trusted the doctors. I knew they wouldn’t be doing this unless they were confident.

The doctors from White Plains Hospital’s Limb Preservation and Restoration Program performed a series of life-saving surgeries and were able to successfully reconstruct my foot. I wouldn’t be in this place if it wasn’t for them. I also work at a hospital, so I know White Plains Hospital’s care is extraordinary

I was nine months pregnant with my first child when I felt a lump under my left armpit. After giving birth to a healthy baby girl, I underwent nine months of chemotherapy and in March 2020, I had a mastectomy. After that, there was no evidence that the cancer had spread. I can’t express how wonderful Dr. Preya and Dr. Green are. It’s so nice to have these two amazing women in my life.

“I was having the worst headache of my life. My husband and I were going to Italy in a week and I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t anything serious. After taking medication I was given a CTA scan, which revealed a brain aneurysm. I thought it could be life-threatening, but my kids scoured the internet and told me that I couldn’t be in better hands than with Dr. Rafael A. Ortiz. He explained the whole procedure and made it seem like, ‘I’ve got this.’ Everything went great during the surgery and after. For somebody who isn’t comfortable going to a hospital, I felt very cared for. I don’t think I could have been in any place better in this entire country – and we even made it to Italy!”

Ever since I gave birth to my son Jack almost a year ago, I’ve actually been trying to think of the best way to put into words how I feel about the exceptional care I received from Laurie Bell, my nurse. Jack’s delivery wasn’t easy. He was a C-section baby and had fluid in his lungs when he was born, so he ended up in the NICU for a day. I also felt so sick from the anesthesia after my procedure. It was all a lot to handle for a first-time mom, but my husband and I both appreciated Laurie’s compassionate care so much that we still talk about it. We are endlessly grateful.

My story begins on Sunday afternoon, July 2, 2023, when I started having abdominal pain. My husband Stephen took me to our local Urgent Care facility, which told me to rush to a hospital for a CAT scan. Residing in New Rochelle but remembering what great care our grandchildren were given when they were born at White Plains Hospital’s NICU unit, we knew where we were going for the scan. I was doubled over in pain, but we experienced the greatest care and concern from the Emergency Room staff as soon as we arrived.

My husband and I were so impressed with the speed and efficiency provided to us; everyone had their roles perfect and in sync with each other. My scan confirmed a diagnosis of diverticulitis and revealed a perforated pouch. I was admitted that evening and am currently under treatment with IV and antibiotics.

I am so grateful for all the staff that has been taking care of me during this holiday weekend. I am grateful for all those who have been involved in my stay, and Stephen and I would especially like to thank the team who are taking care of me on the 5th floor under the leadership of Ms. Kerri Sommer. I know that we will get this event under control!

Having undergone the first leadless pacemaker implementation to occur at White Plains Hospital, I can affirm its ease, Dr. Wang popped it in and that was it…Going forward, I felt fine!

When I met with her, I got this feeling that came over me—this warm, peaceful, good feeling about this doctor. I walked out of there educated. I knew my decision without being scared out of my mind. I knew I was in the best of hands.

Gastric sleeve surgery has given me a second chance in life and the support and the staff at White Plains Hospital is what I attribute to my success.

As I lost the weight, I gained energy, health and a positive attitude. This was not an easy decision, but one I wish I would have done long ago. The support of my family, friends and the staff at White Plains Hospital is what I attribute to my success. Losing 110lbs has made life more enjoyable and ultimately has helped me to physically and mentally tackle my MS issues.

I was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for an allergic reaction and was having trouble breathing. During my stay, a CT scan revealed an unexplained mass, which turned out to be stage two lung cancer. I was devastated by the news. Throughout the pandemic I was able to continue my treatment and in May 2020, I underwent the final surgery to remove the remnants of the tumor. Following my surgery, Dr. Todd Weiser prescribed medication to prevent the tumors from recurring. In March of 2021, I finished all treatment. I would tell anyone in my position to go to White Plains Hospital. I thank God every day that I am alive.
