Our Maternity Program What to Expect During Your Stay

Timing & Arrival

  • Due to the concerns around the coronavirus/COVID-19, we have modified our visitation policy. At this time, for Labor & Delivery as well as Maternity, one support person is allowed during labor, delivery, and through the mother's stay in Maternity; no visitors under the age of 18 years old. Patients and visitors will be screened for COVID-19 every 12 hours. If possible please identify who you have designated as your support person prior to arriving at the Hospital.
  • If you are in labor and arrive at White Plains Hospital between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m., enter through the Hospital’s main entrance on Davis Ave.
  • If you arrive after 10 p.m., please call the Labor & Delivery unit (914-681-1047) and a staff member will meet you at the Hospital's main entrance on Davis Ave.

Where to Go

  • If you are scheduled for any event, be it cesarean section, induction or testing, please stop in the Admitting Office to register before proceeding to labor and delivery. Stopping at the Admitting Office is necessary for any patient scheduled for a test or medical procedure.
  • Once in labor and delivery, a clinical staff member will evaluate you and your unborn child in one of our private suites. A care plan will be developed that takes your input into consideration. The plan will describe the steps leading up to your delivery.

Family and Visitors

If you arrive at the Hospital when the lobby is closed, call the Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit at 914-681-1047. A member of our L&D staff will meet and escort you to the floor.

The health and safety of our patients and babies is our utmost priority. At this time, we have revised our L&D, Maternity and NICU visitation.
