Our Maternity Program What to Expect During Your Stay

Timing & Arrival

  • If you are in labor and arrive at White Plains Hospital between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m., enter through the Hospital’s main entrance on Davis.
  • If you arrive after 10 p.m., enter through the Emergency Department on East Post Road.

Where to Go

  • If you are scheduled for any event, be it cesarean section, induction or testing, please stop in the Admitting Office to register before proceeding to labor and delivery. Stopping at the Admitting Office is necessary for any patient scheduled for a test or medical procedure.
  • Once in labor and delivery, a clinical staff member will evaluate you and your unborn child in one of our private suites. A care plan will be developed that takes your input into consideration. The plan will describe the steps leading up to your delivery.
  • Your designated support person is welcome to stay with you during this time. A family waiting area is available outside the Labor and Delivery Unit.

Family and Visitors

We welcome guests who would like to visit our maternity patients. Visiting hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Partners may visit anytime and are encouraged to sleep over. Siblings are welcome to visit but should be accompanied by a responsible adult, other than the mother, at all times.

To minimize the risk of infection, children other than siblings should not visit on the Mother-Baby Unit.
