I came to the White Plains Hospital Emergency Department suffering tremendous pain in my stomach, later to find out it was diverticulitis. I fully expected that the ER would be busy and hectic, but every single person I met treated me with kindness, respect, courtesy and personal dignity. When you are suffering pain and you are not sure what is going to happen next, knowing that the people around you - strangers - are treating you so well is incredibly reassuring and calming.
