Use a ladder safely

Anytime you use a ladder or stepladder to tackle a job, safety is a must. Falls can cause serious injuries. To help avoid falls, do this when using a ladder.

Learn ladder safety basics

  1. Check for damage before each use.
  2. Use on a sturdy and level, non-slippery surface.
  3. Keep at least one hand on the ladder at all times.
  4. Never use the top rung or cap as a step.
  5. Don’t carry objects that could cause you to lose your balance.
  6. Never overreach on the ladder.
