White Plains Hospital Junior Foundation Board Member Title: Junior Foundation Board Member Department/Location: White Plains Hospital Foundation/Development Department Reports to: Foundation Board Position Summary White Plains Hospital Junior Foundation Board Members high school volunteers who work collaboratively to support and improve the patient experience—especially among the pediatric population—through fundraising, outreach, and service projects. Members contribute to hospital-based and community-led activities that benefit White Plains Hospital and its patients. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following (Some of these include or could include) Must complete all required steps to be cleared as WPH Volunteer with the Volunteer Services Department - (Medical Clearance Process, Volunteer Handbook) Must complete application and be interviewed. Support the Hospital’s pediatric patients by organizing and participating in events such as Bowling for Bears and assembling Comfort Kits. Coordinate service initiatives including toy/book/thermometer drives, holiday decorating, and special collections for the Hospital’s Family Health Center. Attend and contribute to school-based club meetings and project planning sessions. Actively participate in community events to benefit White Plains Hospital programs. Volunteer at the Hospital through the Office of Volunteer Services Serve as a positive ambassador for White Plains Hospital within your school and the community. Communicate and collaborate with Friends leadership, school advisors, and student peers. Complete Stop the Bleed and CPR Training Courses Participate in Hospital education training Core Competencies Enjoys meeting and helping people and have an upbeat, warm personality. Demonstrates good judgment, tact and discretion when dealing with patients, families, visitors and staff. Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and a desire to make a difference in the community. Exhibits strong communication and organizational skills. Maintains respect, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times. Shows creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm in planning and executing service projects. Respects hospital policies and represents the Friends of White Plains Hospital with integrity. Requirements Must be able to attend meetings and events, both on- and off-site (transportation required). Ability to manage time between school responsibilities and volunteer commitments. Requires a positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and sensitivity when serving hospital patients and community members.
