White Plains Hospital offers highly specialized treatment of adult ear, nose and throat and pediatric ear conditions. Our board-certified and fellowship-trained otolaryngologists include experts in head and neck surgery, rhinology and skull base surgery, neurotology, laryngology, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Our team works closely with other specialists including, speech and swallow therapists, nutritionists, and physical therapists, to create a comprehensive care plan for each patient in order to expedite recovery and enhance their quality of life.

Head and neck surgery

Under the direction of Dr. Jk Rasamny, White Plains Hospital’s head and neck surgeons offer the latest surgical and minimally invasive techniques, including transoral robotic surgery (TORS), laser microsurgery, and advanced reconstruction with free tissue transfer to treat benign and malignant conditions of the head and neck, including:

  • Oral cavity cancers (tongue, buccal, floor of mouth, mandibular, and maxillary)
  • Oropharyngeal cancers (including HPV induced tonsil and tongue base)
  • Salivary gland tumors
  • Thyroid and parathyroid tumors
  • Skin cancers (basal cell, squamous cell, melanoma)

Each patient is supported throughout their treatment by a multidisciplinary team of radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, speech and swallow therapists, nutritionists, and physical therapists.

Neurotology

Neurotologist Dr. Brian Nicholas offers the most advanced surgical techniques including cochlear implantation, endoscopic middle ear surgery, and laser microsurgery to treat conditions such as:

  • Congenital deafness
  • Sudden hearing loss
  • Conductive hearing loss (otosclerosis)
  • Cholesteatoma
  • Benign tumors of the nerves for hearing/balance (vestibular schwannoma, acoustic neuroma)
  • Benign skull base tumors (meningioma, paraganglioma, glomus tumors)
  • Malignant tumors of the ear, ear canal and base of skull
  • Balance disorders (Meniere’s disease, benign positional vertigo)

Each patient is supported throughout their treatment by a multidisciplinary team of audiologists, vestibular therapists, rhinologists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons.

Laryngology

Led by Dr. Craig Berzofsky, White Plains Hospital’s laryngologists offer the latest surgical techniques including transoral laser, transoral robotic, and transoral microsurgery to treat conditions of the larynx and upper aerodigestive tract, including:

  • Hoarseness
  • Vocal cord paralysis
  • Dysphonia
  • Benign tumors (vocal cord nodules and polyps)
  • Malignant tumors (larynx cancer)
  • Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
  • Zenker’s diverticulum
  • Subglottic stenosis

Each patient is supported throughout their treatment by a multidisciplinary team of speech and swallow therapists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and nutritionists.

Sinus and skull base surgery

Led by Dr. Ameet Kamat, White Plains Hospital’s rhinologists offer the most advanced surgical and minimally invasive techniques including navigation assisted endoscopic sinus surgery, minimally invasive anterior skull base surgery, and office balloon sinuplasty to treat conditions of the nose, paranasal sinuses and skull base, including:

  • Sinus and endoscopic skull base surgery
  • Primary, revision and frontal sinus surgery
  • Allergic rhinitis
  • Fungal sinusitis
  • Sinus and skull base benign and malignant tumors

Dr. Anisha Kumar offers the full range of treatments for patients requiring facial reconstructive surgery or seeking rejuvenation of the aging face. In addition to treating a variety of facial deformities and reconstruction after head and neck cancer, Dr. Kumar also provide a wide spectrum of rejuvenating facial surgery, including but not limited to:

  • Surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation of the face – including facelift, neck lift, liposuction, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift surgery), laser treatments for all skin types, facial filler injectables, and Botox
  • Reconstruction and cosmetic surgery of the face – including rhinoplasty (nose surgery), otoplasty (ear shaping surgery), cheek and chin implants, and scar revision
  • Reanimation and rehabilitation of patients with a paralyzed face
