Throughout the year, the Hospital hosts and/or collaborates with various community organizations to educate and inform the public on best health practices, and provide important screenings, disease prevention resources, and support groups.  Professional education seminars, family-centered activities and fundraising events are also held frequently.

    $50 per couple. Join other expectant couples in this interactive class and learn more about the basics of caring for your newborn in the first six weeks of life. This fun and engaging class is taught by White Plains Hospital maternity nurses and topics covered include bathing, diapering, and newborn appearance and sleep patterns. We encourage your significant other to join you for this class.

  • Pre-operative Total Joint Class

    Multidisciplinary educational program to prepare you for your upcoming surgery. During the class you will meet a Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist and Discharge planner/Social worker to discuss your pre and post-operative hospital course. You will also receive important educational materials and handouts.

    Your surgeon strongly recommends that you attend this class 2 – 4 weeks prior to your surgery date in order to fully prepare you for your surgery and recovery.  We suggest that you bring your coach/primary caregiver with you to the pre-operative class.

    Please arrive one (1) hour prior to your scheduled class to have adequate time for blood work and registration.

You will be led through a sequence of gentle yoga postures that are suitable for beginners as well as experienced students. The class includes breathing techniques, a short meditation practice as well as a guided visualization to help you deeply relax. BEGINNER FRIENDLY.

    $200 per couple. Come join us at White Plains Hospital for a fun and engaging childbirth education experience! Our Certified Childbirth Education instructors, who are all Labor and Delivery nurses at White Plains Hospital will provide you with most current research based information on each topic while sharing stories and experiences which will help you remember what you learn. This class covers topics including anatomy of pregnancy, relaxation techniques, possible medical interventions, what to do when you go into labor, and more. We encourage your significant other to join this class with you.

    Researchers estimate that over 65,000 men and women in the United States will develop head and neck cancer in 2019. Do you know if you are at risk?

    1. Do you smoke cigarettes, cigars, pipes or use
    chewing tobacco?
    2. Do you consume alcohol frequently?
    3. Do you have a history of excess sun exposure,
    sun burning, sun poisoning?
    4. Are you sexually active?
    5. Have you ever been diagnosed with mono?
    6. Are you over 40 years of age?
    7. Do you have poor dental or oral care?
    8. Is your nutrition poor?
    9. Have you been diagnosed with reflux disease?
    10. Do you have a weakened immune system?

    If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have a higher risk of developing a cancer of the head and/or neck.

    See, Test, & Treat ® is a free cancer-screening and health-education program that brings the power of diagnostic medicine to women in underserved communities. In a single day, uninsured and underinsured women can receive a pelvic and clinical breast exam, a pap test with same day results, a screening mammogram (if eligible), connection to follow-up care, interpretive services, translated educational materials, and a healthy meal.

    White Plains Hospital, in partnership with Calvary Baptist Church, El Centro Hispano and the Thomas H. Slater Center, are hosting the Annual Neighborhood Health Fair. 

    Vendors are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Please complete the online registration and payment below in order to be considered as a health fair vendor. Space is limited and duplicate vendors/organizations will not be accepted.

    Vendors will be provided with a six foot or round table and chair(s), as well as a light breakfast
