When New York State shut down during the pandemic in early March, many specialists and primary care physicians from White Plains Hospital found themselves in an equally unprecedented situation. Fearful of this new unknown, far more patients were staying home and, suddenly, doctors found their schedules to be dramatically lighter.
At the same time, patient care demands at the Hospital were ramping up exponentially, with an influx of COVID-19 patients from across the Hudson Valley and orders from the state to increase hospital capacity by 50% to accommodate patients from nearby facilities.
