GIVING
   CARE BEYOND THE BEDSIDE
On a Saturday morning before the pandemic, more than 220 members of the local community came through the conference room doors at the White Plains Hospital Center for Cancer Care and walked out with their arms full of free fresh fruits and vegetables to take home to their families. Stocked also with healthy
recipes and tips on how to shop smart on a budget, their smiling faces confirmed the need in the community for increased access to nutritious food. It also confirmed the vision of the nurses on the Hospital’s Outpatient Council who began this food-distribution program, known as Fresh Market, in October 2018 in partnership with Feeding Westchester.
MORE THAN 200 VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED MORE THAN 17 TONS OF FOOD TO 2,000 FAMILIES LAST YEAR ALONE.
