Emergency and Critical Care Services

From emergency room care to in-patient intensive care, White Plains Hospital is well-positioned to handle a wide variety of critical care situations. Our compassionate and highly trained physicians and nurses have the latest technology to help them handle life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Our emergency and critical care services include:

  • Emergency Department at White Plains HospitalThe Flanzer Center for Emergencies and Critical Care, encompassing the main Emergency Room and the Maxine and John Bendheim Family Intermediate Care Center for less serious illnesses and injuries. The main Emergency Room also includes the Kylie and Louis R. Cappelli Pediatric Emergency Center and the Donald J. Trump Resuscitation Area for patients in critical condition.
  • Facilities within the Emergency Department for responding to disasters and large-scale emergencies.
  • In patient nursing units for Intensive Care and Cardiac Care. These areas are available for critically ill patients in need of ongoing specialized cardiac and/or pulmonary monitoring, or recovering from major surgery. Both nursing units have "step-down" units for less intensive care with 24-hour telemetry monitoring.
  • The award-winning Ruth and Jerome A. Siegel Stroke Center, the first New York State Designated Regional Stroke Center in Westchester County. The Stroke Center includes a Rapid Response "Code Gray" Team, which ensures prompt evaluation for patients with stroke symptoms.
  • Two cardiac catheterization laboratories which are available to provide emergency and elective angioplasty to open blocked coronary arteries.
