White Plains Hospital is known throughout the region for excellence in cardiac care. In 2007, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) named it the only hospital in Westchester--and one of just four in New York State--with better than national mortality rates for heart failure. The American Stroke Association distinguished the Hospital as Westchester's only recipient of its Get With the Guidelines-Stroke® Annual Performance Achievement Award, an honor the Hospital has continually received since 2007 which recognizes advanced treatment for stroke that meets the nation's highest standards of care. White Plains Hospital offers a full-service cardiology program, from non-invasive diagnostic procedures to an eight-bed inpatient coronary care unit. The Hospital opened a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory in June of 2008, approved by the New York State Department of Health to perform diagnostic procedures. The full-service and state-of-the art Joan and Alan Herfort, M.D. Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at White Plains Hospital was joined in December of 2015 by the Marie Promuto Cardiac Cath Lab. Together they are two of only three in Westchester County authorized to perform emergency and elective angioplasty, provides numerous options for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
