About Your Bill and Insurance
Each insurance carrier has different plans, with different benefits and limitations. Your insurance carrier is the best resource to inform you regarding plan participation and out of pocket. Although the hospital may participate with your insurance plan it doesn’t guarantee 100% coverage. You may be responsible for a deductible, co-insurance, copayment and/or non-covered services.
Insurance plans such as Empire Blue Cross, Medicare, commercial insurance and Medicaid, will cover most of the costs of your hospitalization after your deductible is paid. You will be responsible for paying any deductible and charges not covered by your insurance as well as any television and telephone charges. Any questions concerning your bill should be directed to the Patient Accounts Department. This office is open from 8 am to 4 pm. Telephone inquiries are welcome from 9 am until 4 pm Monday - Friday.

It is possible that multiple physician/provider(s) may be involved in your Hospital care. Please make sure that you contact the physician responsible for your hospital care to provide you with the name, specialty and contact information of any other physician(s) who will be involved with your care.
Physicians providing services at the hospital may be independent or they may be employed or contracted by the Hospital. A number of these professional medical services are billed separately from your Hospital bill. These fees are not set or controlled by the Hospital. It is also possible that the physicians involved may or may not participate in the same plans as the Hospital. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance carrier or with the physician’s office to verify if the physician(s) is covered by your plan. For all non-emergent services, if the physician does not participate in your health plan, the physician, upon your request, must provide an estimated amount of what you will be billed for the service.

Notice of Availability of Charity Care
In recognition that all patients who seek health care from White Plains Hospital may not have the financial resources or insurance coverage to afford care, the Hospital will make available a reasonable amount of uncompensated services to persons meeting the eligibility requirements.
Eligibility for free care will be limited to persons whose family income is not more than the current poverty guidelines established by the Department of Health and Human Services as well as New York State residents only. Persons whose income is greater than the guidelines are eligible for hospital charity care at a reduced-fee basis.
