Nursing Services - Our Vision

The nurses at White Plains Hospital Center (WPHC) are compassionate and skilled caregivers dedicated to providing for the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of our patients and families in a collegial environment that supports professional excellence.

As a highly sophisticated community hospital located in a suburb close to New York City, WPHC offers many clinical programs and services that are on par with leading teaching hospitals. These programs include: The Dickstein Cancer Treatment Center, The William & Sylvia Silberstein Neonatal & Maternity Center, The Ruth & Jerome A. Siegel Stroke Center, and the Westchester Orthopedic Institute. White Plains Hospital Center's nurses have access to the best medical technology possible, including computerized bedside charting, bedside medication verification and computerized medication dispensing.  This advanced technology also includes world-class radiology and laboratory departments and outstanding surgical services.

The Hospital's 660 nurses are respected for their professionalism and autonomous practice. Whether at the division or unit level, all nurses are encouraged and mentored to take an active part in decision making through our shared governance councils. The councils are built on a foundation of lifelong learning and professional development in nursing services and assure that the bedside nurse is the driving force at WPHC.  In addition, dynamic nurse leaders follow a strategic and visionary philosophy in the day-to-day operations of nursing services, coupled with a strong sense of advocacy and support for both the nursing staff and patients.

Professional development is highly valued at White Plains Hospital Center. The Nursing Division actively nurtures its new graduates and provides scholarly avenues for the more experienced nurse in many clinical services. Opportunities for advancement are plentiful and the Hospital supports nursing education both philosophically and financially.
