Wellness at White Plains Hospital Center
At White Plains Hospital Center we believe there is nothing more important than your health. That means we not only offer the best medical care in the area, we also provide you with a variety of programs to increase your quality of life and sense of well-being.
Wellness Through Prevention Month is a community-wide celebration of good health held every May, and includes workshops, health screenings, and other activities promoting wellness through prevention.
Wellness Through Prevention Month 2010 included the following:
- Mayfair & Ted E. Bear Hospital: A day of fun for the whole family that included free check ups for fuzzy friends and dolls, health screenings, educational carnival-type games, prizes, rides, and much more.
- Movin 'N Groovin: Revitilizing fitness sessions plus stimulating mini-presentations for those 55 and older. Richard Weinstein, MD, Director of Sports Medicine at WPHC's Westchester Orthopaedic Institute conversed about injury prevention and arthritis in the older adult popualtion.
- Girls Night Out: An evening of relaxation including healthy munchies and reviving beverages plus a mini-wellness presentation. Nidhi Sahgal, MD, breast surgeon at White Plains Hospitl Center chatted about breast health in the 21st century.
- The Ultimate Chef Experience: Local chef Anthony Goncalves, Time Magazine's" Chef of the Future" created reduced-sodium and low-fat tasty morsels for the audience . WPHC's Geralyn Plomitallo, RD, Certified Diabetes Educator and Nutrition Manager communicated the importance of the heart healthy foods in a well-balanced diet.
At White Plains Hospital Center, we believe in the mission of Wellness. As we move forward, we will continue to present Wellness programs and hold Wellness events in the community.
