The Hospitalist Program

Hospitalist Medicine is one of the newest and fastest growing areas in health care. Initially conceived in 1995, over 25,000 physicians nationwide identify themselves as hospitalists.  Established in 2005, White Plains Hospital Center's Hospitalist Program is one of the largest in the metropolitan area. The program provides 24-hour quality care for both adult and pediatric patients.

What is a Hospitalist?
A Hospitalist is a physician who is a specialist in the care of hospitalized patients. White Plains Hospitalist Program physicians are hospital employees who coordinate all aspects of a patient's care, ensuring that a physician is available for any hospitalized patient at any time of the day or night.

What are the benefits of the Hospitalist Program?

  • Physicians are assured that expert medical care is always available for their patients, even if they cannot be present at the bedside. A physician in the Hospitalist program at White Plains Hospital Center checks on a patient in the Hospital
  • The Hospitalist team provides a great deal of personal attention to patients. Patients have the ability to see a physician more often and with more flexible visit times.
  • Patients benefit from a reduced length of stay. Since hospitalists are present all day and night, they can follow up on diagnostic tests quickly and arrive at a treatment plan more efficiently.
