Jeffrey Vainshtein, MD Joins White Plains Hospital

Radiation Oncologist joins the Hospital’s Cancer Program

White Plains Hospital welcomes Radiation Oncologist Jeffrey Vainshtein, MD to the Hospital. He is the newest member of the White Plains Hospital Cancer Program and is located at the Dickstein Cancer Center, located at 2-4 Longview Avenue in White Plains.

Dr. Vainshtein received his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. He completed an internship in General Surgery at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI, followed by residency training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he was selected to serve as chief resident. Prior to joining White Plains Hospital, Dr. Vainshtein was on the faculty of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Winship Cancer Institute of the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. He is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology.

Dr. Vainshtein specializes in the management of head and neck, thoracic, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary malignancies, and is experienced in the treatment of brain and spine tumors, lymphomas, sarcomas, breast cancer, and gynecological cancers. He has expertise in the use of several advanced radiotherapy treatment techniques, including intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), image guided radiation therapy (IGRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic ablative radiotherapy/stereotactic body radiotherapy (SABR/SBRT) and 3D-conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT). He additionally has clinical experience with both high-dose rate and low-dose rate brachytherapy in the management of prostate and gynecological malignancies.

Dr. Vainshtein has collectively authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, and textbook chapters. He has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences, including meetings of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), American Head and Neck Society (AHNS), and American Radium Society (ARS). He is the recipient of several professional awards, including the American Radium Society Young Oncologist Essay Award, the Radiological Society of North America Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award, the University of Michigan Woodworth Award for Excellence in Radiation Oncology Research, the ASTRO Translational Symposium Travel Grant Award, and the Albert Einstein Research Fellowship Award. He is an active member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
