The Hospital has been recognized for its extraordinary commitment to the health of its employees and their families through the provision of ample opportunities to reduce cancer risk as well as extensive support during and after a cancer diagnosis. To earn Gold Standard accreditation, an employer must take concrete actions in five key areas, including: reducing cancer risk through reduction of tobacco use; promoting physical activity and nutrition; offering access to health insurance that supports cancer screening and prevention; promoting employee awareness of these initiatives; and supporting cancer survivors in the workplace.
Women’s Choice Award® as an America’s Best Hospitals for Cancer Care
This award signifies a commitment and passion towards an extraordinary healthcare experience for all patients through the Hospital’s cancer program, meeting the highest cancer care accreditation standards of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, as well as for their excellence in clinical performance with regard to patient safety measures, and for their high recommendation rate, a measure that is very important to women in choosing a hospital.
The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval
White Plains Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval. This comprehensive evaluation measures the quality and safety standards of the hospital. The organization looks at the safety of patients, effectiveness of the treatment provided, and the environment of care. Outstanding Achievement Award for Cancer Care
White Plains Hospital is one of a select group of only 23 U.S. healthcare facilities with accredited cancer programs to receive this national honor in 2015. The Outstanding Achievement Award for Cancer Care is awarded by the Commission of Cancer of the American College of Surgeons for achieving excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients. The CoC surveys programs every three years.

MBSAQIP Accredited Center
White Plains Hospital's bariatric surgical center has been accredited as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). White Plains Hospital is one of only 2 hospitals in Westchester to receive the accreditation.

All awarded centers have met the high standards of the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and carry the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) seal from the American College of Radiology. Lung Cancer Screening Center Designation
The American College of Radiology (ACR) Lung Cancer Screening Center designation is a voluntary program that recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer.
American Diabetes Association’s Recognition for a Quality Diabetes Self-Management Education Program
This recognition assures that our educational programs meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs and have knowledgeable health professionals who can provide participants with comprehensive information in order to facilitate diabetes self-care.
American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award

American Association of Critical Care Nurses Beacon Award for Excellence

Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR)
This designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
Given to centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.
Charles A. Mastronardi Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Designated as Level III by the New York State DOH
Level III is the highest accreditation possible for a community hospital perinatal center and signifies that White Plains Hospital operates a neonatal intensive care unit and is equipped to provide perinatal care services for patients requiring increasingly complex treatment.
Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders (NICHE) Designation
NICHE designation recognizes a strong dedication in hospitals to geriatric nursing care and demonstrates organizational commitment and continued progress in improving quality, enhancing patient and family experience, and supporting hospitals’ efforts to serve their communities. Learn More Here.
Stroke Center Designation
The New York State Department of Health (DOH) recognizes White Plains Hospital for the Hospital’s specific capabilities to treat complex stroke diagnoses and requires stroke patients to be brought to the designated hospitals in an emergency. WPH was the first community Hospital in Westchester to receive this designation in 2005.
Women’s Choice Award for America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Experience (2011-2013)
The honorable achievement is awarded to outstanding hospitals for creating an extraordinary patient experience for women and families. Hospitals earn the award based on their exceptional patient satisfaction ratings.
In addition to the previously mentioned accreditations and designations, White Plains Hospital is certified by the New York State Department of Health (DOH), approved by the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene, and accredited by the American College of Radiology and American Committee of the College of American Pathologists.
