If you are in labor and arrive at WPH between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m., enter through the Hospital's main entrance on Davis Avenue. If you arrive after 9 p.m., enter through the Emergency Department on East Post Road. If you are scheduled for any event, be it Cesarean Section, induction or testing, please stop in the Admitting Office to register before proceeding to the triage area of labor and delivery. stopping at the admitting office is necessary for any patient scheduled for a test or medical procedure.
Once in the triage area, the mother and her fetus will be evaluated by the clinical staff. A care plan will be developed that takes your input into consideration. The plan will describe the steps leading up to your delivery.
Your designated support person is welcome to stay.
Your designated support person is welcome to stay with you during this time, but to protect the privacy of other patients, additional friends and family members are not permitted in the triage area. A family waiting area is available outside the Labor and Delivery Unit.
WPHC Labor and Delivery suites feature
The new Labor and Delivery suites at WPH feature all the comforts of home while still providing advanced medical care. These spacious, state-of-the-art suites are equipped with the latest technology, including a Central Fetal Monitoring System, tastefully tucked behind built-in maple cabinetry and ceiling panels. There is ample room for visitors (two people maximum at one time) and in-room sleeping accommodations for fathers or labor support persons. Each room also has a private bathroom with a shower.
There are several options for your labor and delivery stay.
There are seven Labor and Delivery suites: Three are private LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum) suites. Rour are private LDF (labor, delivery, and recovery) suites.
If you have a Cesarean birth, the Surgical Suite features two operating rooms and a three-bed recovery room.
