The Comprehensive Cardiovascular Program
Cardiology Services at White Plains Hospital
White Plains Hospital has achieved a reputation for excellence as a cardiology service hospital. In 2007, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) named it the only hospital in Westchester--and one of just four in New York State--with better than national mortality rates for heart failure. In the same year, the American Stroke Association distinguished the Hospital as Westchester's only recipient of its Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Annual Performance Achievement Award, confirming the Hospital's ability to provide advanced treatment for stroke that meets the nation's highest standards of care.
White Plains Hospital offers a full-service cardiology program, from non-invasive diagnostic procedures to an eight-bed inpatient coronary care unit. The Hospital opened a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory in June of 2008, approved by the New York State Department of Health to perform diagnostic procedures. The new cath lab, which is one of only three such facilities in Westchester County, draws on the resources and expertise of the world-renowned Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. This affiliation with one of the country's most esteemed academic medical centers also provides patients at White Plains Hospital with access to Columbia's extensive clinical research programs in cardiology.
The scope of cardiology services offered at White Plains Hospital has expanded even further now that our application to perform emergency angioplasty has been approved by the New York State Department of Health. Cardiology services are an important component of our being a full-service community hospital and we look forward to the changes that state approval will bring. The ultimate beneficiaries of these services will be the residents of our service area who are in need of these new cardiology services.
