White Plains, NY (June 25, 2010) – The Seizure Diagnostic Center at White Plains Hospital has been designated as a Level 4 Specialized Epilepsy Center--the highest rating by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC).

The Level 4 designation is applied to hospitals and medical centers that provide the more complex forms of intensive neuro-diagnostics monitoring, as well extensive medical, neuropsychological, and psychosocial treatment, according to the NAEC. Level 4 centers also offer a complete evaluation for epilepsy surgery, including intracranial electrodes, and provide a broad range of surgical procedures for epilepsy. In the Center at White Plains Hospital, a team of experienced healthcare professionals utilize state-of-the-art technology to provide the basis for accurate assessments of various seizure disorders and advanced treatment options.

“Our team of experts is committed to providing comprehensive care to children and adults with epilepsy close to their homes,” said Olgica Laban-Grant, MD, Epileptologist. “Level 4 epilepsy centers serve as referral centers for intractable epilepsy patients. We are delighted to have this national recognition for the high-level epilepsy care that is delivered by the White Plains Hospital Seizure Diagnostic Center. “

Last year, the Seizure Diagnostic Center at White Plains Hospital Center treated nearly 350 patients, up from 239 patients the year prior.
