White Plains, NY (April 26, 2011) - White Plains Hospital celebrated Certified Nurses Day, which is nationally celebrated on March 19th, on March 17th by honoring its board certified nurses. The following nurses are being recognized for their professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellence in patient care. Board Certification of nurses plays an increasingly important role in the assurance of high standards of care for patients and their loved ones. Nursing, like health care in general, has become increasingly complex. While a registered nurse (RN) license provides entry to general nursing practice, the knowledge-intensive requirements of modern nursing require extensive post-secondary and continuing education and a strong personal commitment to excellence by the nurse. White Plains Hospital Center encourages national board certification for all its nurses.

In honor of this day, all certified nurses were invited to a “Certification Breakfast” by Leigh Anne McMahon, White Plains Hospital Chief Nursing Operator, for a heart healthy breakfast and a slide presentation. To further recognize these outstanding nurses, the entrance to the room was decorated with balloons and a large poster displaying the names of our certified nurses. Each nurse attending also received a “certified nurse” lanyard.
