White Plains, NY (September 2011) - More than 500 adults and children from White Plains and neighboring communities are expected to receive free health screenings and education at the first annual White Plains and Greenburgh Wellness Coalition’s Health Day, to be held from 8:30am-5:30pm Saturday, October 1st, at the Theodore D. Young Community Center, 32 Manhattan Ave, White Plains, NY (Greenburgh).
A collaborative community undertaking, the Health Fair will bring together the resources of the White Plains Hospital, Doctors Express, The Greenburgh Health Center, The Westcheser Rockland Guardians Association, The Theodore D. Young Community Center, Shoprite and the Masons.
The highlight of the day-long event will be the Blood and Bone Marrow Drive, where volunteers will provide swab samples to determine whether they may be suitable donors to those needing life-saving blood and bone marrow transplants. Other Information provided will include Breast Cancer Prevention, Colorectal Health, Nutrition Workshops, Blood Pressure Screenings, Blood Sugar Screenings, and Child-ID & Safety Information. Experts will be on hand to provide information and answer questions on various health topics.
