White Plains, NY (November 2011)- White Plains Hospital has once again received the Consumer’s Choice Award from the National Research Corporation (NRC.)  The Hospital is a nine-time winner of the award, which recognizes quality and image in healthcare by the Nebraska-based research corporation.

The award is given based on a questionnaire of approximately 250,000 households in the New York area, and is shared with a select group of other hospitals across the country.  Several other prestigious healthcare institutions across the country received the award such as the Cleveland Clinic, Duke University Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Mayo Clinic and Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The National Research Corporation (NRC) is a healthcare research and quality improvement firm offering performance measurement and improvement services to health plans, hospitals, health care systems, physicians, and other healthcare organizations. Dedicated solely to the healthcare industry, NRC is a leading provider of ongoing performance measurement, improvement, analysis and tracking services to healthcare organizations.

White Plains Hospital was also recently named one of the top 100 Hospitals for Patient Experience by Women Certified. This is the first time White Plains Hospital has received the honor from Women Certified, a Florida-based organization which awards businesses and brands based on customer experience.

Hospitals are selected for the annual Women Certified list based on a proprietary scoring process that incorporates Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores along with a higher level of analysis that weighs criteria identified as the most important to women for patient satisfaction. Additionally, it takes into consideration Women Certified’s in-depth research on customer satisfaction among women, including a joint study on customer satisfaction by gender conducted with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Jon Schandler, President and CEO of White Plains Hospital said, “To be honored with these two awards is a true testament to the remarkable work we have been doing at White Plains Hospital for decades, which is now being even more widely recognized.  The quality of care we give our patients is always our highest priority and we are proud of the exceptional work we do, every day.”
