For almost as long as White Plains Hospital has served the area, members of the Auxiliary have served the hospital. The Auxiliary's mission is to promote and advance the welfare of the Hospital, through volunteerism to the hospital, its patients and the community. The organization's primary areas of focus include:
Hospital services
In addition to providing thousands of volunteer hours in the Hospital, the Auxiliary sponsors the Gift Shop, an in-house patient library, and the beauty salon.
Community outreach
Auxilians provide guided tours for school groups, monthly hypertension screenings in the Hospital lobby and scholarships for junior volunteers, among other activities.
Fundraising
Major events sponsored by the Auxiliary include the Scarecrow Festival, Fall Gala and Spring Luncheon plus other events which may be held throughout the year.
The Piggy Bank
Run by Auxiliary volunteers, The Piggy Bank is a shop for gently used clothing for children and adults. Formerly located in Scarsdale and now at 261 South Central Avenue in Hartsdale, proceeds from the shop have supported the Hospital for more than 50 years. For more information, call 914-682-1880.
Through their many initiatives, the Auxiliary provides valuable services to White Plains Hospital's patients and brings tremendous philanthropic support to the Hospital. For more information about the Auxiliary and its work, please call 914-681-1225.
