While the Hospital continues to offer more advanced services, we never lose sight of where we began: right here, in the community of White Plains, connecting our neighbors with the health care they need. That commitment continues through community outreach and education programs aimed at promoting good health, overall wellness, disease prevention, and early detection.
The Clinical Tutorial Program, originally created by Dr. Carl Weber in the 1980s and re-launched in 2015 under the direction of his son, Director of Surgery Kaare Weber, MD, provides exemplary high school students in Westchester who are interested in a career
in medicine or science with weekly exposure to these fields through a semester-long program. Each week, 12 exceptional students from area high schools spend two hours at White Plains Hospital and receive exposure to surgical and medical specialties, nursing, and advanced practice providers—as well as
additional professions in the medical field such as emergency response—through a series of seminars and clinical experiences. Students gain an understanding of anatomy and physiology and common diseases and are exposed to a broad range of diagnostic and treatment advances.
