Hospital Recognized Among Top 5% in the Nation for Outstanding Patient Experience
White Plains, N.Y.(August 6, 2014) - White Plains Hospital today announced that is has received the Healthgrades® 2014 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. The Hospital was identified as providing outstanding performance in the delivery of positive experiences for patients during their hospital stay, according to Healthgrades®, a leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
White Plains Hospital celebrated the recognition at a special awards presentation from Healthgrades representatives this morning, which was open to all staff and volunteers.
Healthgrades evaluated 3,582 hospitals that submitted patient surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for eligibility for the 2014 Outstanding Patient Experience Award, covering inpatient services provided from March 2012 to April 2013. Of these hospitals, 3,000 met additional clinical quality requirements to be considered for the Healthgrades distinction. White Plains Hospital is in the top 5% of hospitals in the nation to meet these criteria.
Healthgrades evaluated White Plains Hospital’s performance as assessed by the Hospital’s patients across 27 different questions that roll up to ten distinct measures. Ranging from cleanliness and noise levels in a patient room to factors such as pain management and responsiveness to patient’s needs, the measures also include whether a patient would recommend this hospital to friends or family.

White Plains Hospital employees incorporate patient satisfaction into nearly every layer of the organization, from senior leadership to nursing, to food and environmental services, to physician communication. An interdisciplinary committee meets regularly to review initiatives underway and identify opportunities to enhance the patient experience. All patient surveys and comments are reviewed by management level staff and used in improvements to continually achieve higher levels of patient and family satisfaction.
