White Plains, NY- (July 8, 2013) – The Breast Imaging Department of White Plains Hospital as well as White Plains Hospital Women's Imaging Center at Rye Brook have both earned Mammography Accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The accreditation recognizes excellent patient care and quality imaging services at both facilities.
The hospital’s Breast Imaging Department has also been designated as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE). The breast imaging services at White Plains Hospital are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations by board-certified physicians and medical physicists have determined that high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are all met in order to receive the designation.
The ACR is a national organization, serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
“Our commitment to exceptional breast care is demonstrated by our accreditation in all of the related specialty areas by the American College of Radiology,” said Caren Greenstein, M.D., Radiologist with White Plains Hospital Breast Imaging Center. “Proper diagnosis and effective treatment of any breast condition begins with accurate imaging. By ensuring that each method used for detection — mammography, ultrasound, MRI and biopsy — meet the standards of excellence, our patients can be confident that they are receiving expert, safe and effective care.”
